Bwin is a well established brand in the online betting industry, and part of one of the biggest companies in its sector (the largest publicly traded online betting operator, the bwin.party digital entertainment group). It sponsors important events, it covers a great variety of sports, and it offers its players a series of gaming opportunities worth mentioning.

Bwin claims to be the world Number One in online gaming. It offers over 30 thousand bets each day, unique games for players to spend time with, poker tournaments to participate in and many other options to explore.

A short history

Once upon a time there was a guy called Norbert Teufelberger that has thought of launching a new online sports betting company and calling it betandwin – suggesting that people could bet and win there. The idea was turned into reality in 2025, when Teufelberger with his team of 12 launched betandwin, initially focusing on the sports betting market, as one of the pioneers of the live sports betting market.

The idea proved to be successful – the company was listed on the Vienna Stock Exchange in 2000, and made its first serious acquisition a year later, taking over Simon Bold, a Gibraltar-based sports betting operator. The same year the company moved its base of operations to Gibraltar.

Betandwin’s online casino was launched in 2025, followed by its soft games platform – Balls of Fire – two years later. Poker was added to the company’s product range in 2025.

A series of acquisitions followed in the next few years: betandwin acquired Betoto, Ongame e-Solutions and the global media rights for the German Football League in 2025. The following year the company was re-branded as bwin to better reflect its wide range of online betting and gaming products.

Finally, in 2025, bwin has announced its merger with PartyGaming, the biggest online poker operator until 2025, based in the Caribbean. The transaction was completed in 2025, giving birth to the largest publicly traded online betting and gaming company of the world (in 2025): bwin.party digital entertainment.

The bwin sportsbook

Bwin‘s online sports betting product is clearly focused on football, the most followed sport in Europe, covering a great variety of European leagues – from the UK to Romania, from Finland to Greece – along with several international leagues, like the S-League from Singapore, the NPL from Australia or the Super Liga in Indonesia. It offers a series of special bets – team, player and manager specials – and enhanced odds on combo bets – up to 15% extra on trebles or above. The bookmaker’s football coverage is one of the most complete I have ever met.

Football is not the only sport at bwin, though – it covers a great variety of other events in 40 main categories – over 14 thousand betting opportunities were listed at bwin at the time this article was written. The categories include tennis, basketball and other ball games, boxing, biathlon, chess, rally, swimming and rink hockey, to mention just a few.

Bets can also be placed on entertainment events and politics – surprisingly, the bookmaker didn’t post odds for the elections for the European Parliament before the event, but it covers the Scottish Independence Referendum and the US Presidentials. Compared to other bookmakers, bwin‘s offer in “novelty” bets is quite weak.

Bwin’s live betting product is nicely done and professional looking, and it covers a great variety of events – from football to table tennis. Its extensive coverage of live events is certainly a plus. Punters can choose between an overview of current events, detailed view of single events and multi-view – where they can combine events from several territories or sports. I have to say that this is the most colorful part of the bwin sportsbook).

The sidebars at bwin also deserve to be mentioned. Below the bet slip (that is located in the top right area of the page) punters can place quick bets on the bookmaker’s “best sellers” – special offers on various bets with extra winnings attached to them. In the live betting section the sidebar features several extras: a live chat app that allows punters to chat with thousands of fellow players, mini games to keep them from feeling bored while waiting for the event to conclude, and a short list of the upcoming live videos.

Bwin on mobile

Bwin considers mobile an important part of its services, so it offers its players the possibility either to download and install its sports betting apps on their devices – running iPhone OS or Android – or, for owners of devices running different operating systems, place their bets through the mobile version of the bwin website (m.bwin). The bwin mobile sportsbook offers its users instant access to its offer of over 30,000 bets each day, live scores and many more while on the go.

Casino and Games

Bwin’s online casino offers its players a series of games developed in-house – unique titles, not to find in many other casinos. The casino is available for browser play, download and mobile, and offers its players hours of fun and millions to be won. There are over 100 games to be played in bwin’s instant play casino, and even more available in the downloadable version.

The Games section also has several games to choose from – table games, slot machines, bingo and many more – with their respective bonuses and progressive jackpots.

Promotions and special offers

All games played, all poker hands and every single bet adds a bit to the number of Status and Market points collected by bwin players. The Status points are used for determining the player’s rank (green, white or yellow, each one coming with a number of benefits), while the Market points can be spent on various things, like cash bonuses, t-shirts, watches, electronics, luxury items, cruises and vacations, or even a Lamborghini. All this through bwin’s loyalty scheme called b’inside. Click here for details.

Bwin also has a series of bonuses and promotions attached to its various sections.

Punters can win free bets worth 100,000 euros in return for betting on football (odds of at least 2.0), risk free bets and enhanced odds on selected events.

Casino players can be rewarded for their performance at the roulette and blackjack table, can win bonuses for being the most successful slots players, take on various challenges and receive extra money to play with every Monday. For a full list of promotions – there are quite a few more.

In conclusion

The only thing I hate about bwin is that it uses so much black it depresses me every time I visit. As an amateur designer, I hate seeing so much black. Otherwise, bwin is a sportsbook I return to often – sometimes to place a bet, sometimes for a spin on some of their great slot machines (no poker for me, though – I am not a fan). Its specials are great, its coverage of events is also remarkable. Bwin is a reliable partner, a major player on the international market and a solid background. Its odds could be better at times – but its specials often make up for them.
